After designing your site, we would like to stay involved by maintaining it for you. Perhaps you don't have the time to keep your site up to date and you don't feel like learning a new piece of software. You can send us your updates by e-mail or as Word attachments, and we'll update your pages for you.

Almost every site we build provides our customer with the ability to edit their own pages easily. This is done using content management systems (CMSes). When set up correctly and thoughtfully, a CMS site can greatly improve your search engine optimization by auto-generating a sitemap for Google Sitemaps and Yahoo! Site Explorer. The sitemap keeps itself updated, and the search engines keep coming back to re-index your site as it changes. On top of that, the site can be set up with search engine and human-friendly URLs that contain valuable keywords, and can even automatically populate your meta keywords tag with the most common words from any given page. These SEO benefits are more easily accomplished (and more economical) with a CMS.

Maintain Your Site with Joomla

Plethora Design specializes in building and converting sites so that you can maintain your pages yourself. For that we use open source software called Joomla that can be extended to include lots of different functionality. In other words, it allows your site to grow with your needs.

We develop CMS (Content Management System) sites using Joomla!, which will allow you to login using a web-based interface and edit your pages directly online in a friendly Word-like editor. The software behind this runs on PHP/MySQL, which is open-source (no proprietary restrictions) and it's free, so you only pay for our time. Both Joomla and PHP/MySQL are very widely supported. We do also work with other systems on an as-needed basis.

Maintain your site With adobe Contribute

For some sites we recommend Adobe Contribute 4, which allows you to update your own site using a Word-like interface without needing to concern yourself with HTML code. This works well for existing sites or ones not requiring a database, or where a database is not an option. It allows us to maintain the technical aspects while you edit the text and place images and links just as you'd expect. Contribute works well with teams of editors, even if they are in different locations, allowing people to collaborate over long distances, but does require one software license per person.
